Christmas is a time...

that me and my husband get spoiled rotten! Seriously. My Mom is crazy about Christmas and loves, loves, loves buying Christmas gifts. I am assuming this is why gifts is my top love language. Anyways, we have to come up with a bunch of stuff that we want and I have been saving links and images. I just thought I would throw the images together really fast for a visual.

Here's my Christmas Wish List. I really would be happy with just one of these, but because my parents, Ben's parents, and our friends (whom we treat like a family) all buy for us we have to give quite a few ideas. As I said, spoiled... rotten!

(I would love to show some gifts that I have made and bought, but that would umm... totally give away the surprise aspect.) Maybe after Christmas. I just love buying and making gifts! Not because I am materialistic, but because I love thinking of ideas for people and giving them something they had just mentioned in passing back in June. I think I might be more excited about people opening what we bought them than opening our gifts. I LOVE Christmas... and Jesus. And Jesus being born. It really is an amazing time of the year.

Plus, you have Christmas cookies, tree decorating, lights, seeing loved ones, Christmas music, cards, grilling steak outside on the grill with friends, Holiday movies, pancakes on Christmas morning, and so on.

I just listened to Christmas music for the first time last night! It just makes me instantly happy. What a wonderful time of year! And that is saying a lot coming from someone who absolutely hates cold weather. I am always running across neat things and thought I would share in hopes of giving somebody a gift idea. I don't know about you, but I LOVE looking at the covers of magazines and their photo shoots inside! There is something about pretty people and photography that draws me in. I sometimes go to Walgreens on my break just to look at the magazine rack. (well and to grab a diet coke) That is always the first place I go to at Barnes and Noble as well. I just think that these magazines come up with some of the best photo shoot ideas. Vanity Fair is probably one of my favorites.

Anyways, I was looking in my Web Finds Folder at some images that I have been saving. I realized I was gaining quite the collection of celebrity photo shoot ads... so I thought I would share them with you. Enjoy.

I have not been posting lately because I was out of space. To sum it up, it's because my Picasa and both of my blogs all use the same memory allowance. That is such a rip off by the way! So I had to delete some of my albums off of Picasa and I got rid of my photo a day blog, just so I would have enough space to actually post to my blog again.

They really need to give you more space OR give you a separate allowance for your blog than your photos.

Anyways, enough complaining.

I have some uber adorable photos of my nephews to post as soon as I take my laptop to a place that has the free wifi. We just currently moved and are waiting for internet access. I should warn you though, we might possibly have the cutest nephews of all time. I have been talking with Ben about how we shouldn't have children because there is no way they will be as cute as Simon, Sam, or Elliot.

Oh and I will also have some before and after photos of our new house to post. Well, as soon as we unpack. I'm thinking about setting a date for a Thank You Party (for all of the people who helped us) so that way it will give us some motivation to get it done sooner than later. Sooner being the key word there.

I am a very positive person, and these guys are way negative. But dang they are good! I love every song on every CD they have had. One of my all time favorite bands!

Carry Me Through – Dave Barnes
It has a very strong bluegrass/southern gospel feel to it, and Mr. Barnes has a fabulous voice. It just makes me happy.

Might be one of my my all time favorite songs. It’s incredible. Kind of hard to describe.

Good Arms VS. Bad Arms – Frightened Rabbit
I just heard of this band this year. They are kind of a folky rock. I read that is was one of John Krasinski’s favorite bands, so naturally I checked it out.
It was just okay the first time I listened, but got better each time. Now I’m in love. With the song, not John. :

Black Balloon – Goo Goo Dolls
If I ever saw this performed live, I might cry. It’s another song that still gives me chills, even though I’ve listened to it over and over.

I’m more partial to You Can Breathe. He wails on the piano and you can’t help but feel the emotion. It’s Amazing.

Sunny Days – Jars of Clay
This is one of my ringtones. It will always drastically alter me into a better mood the second I hear it. I might have also told Ben he should play it at my funeral if I ever die before him. Yes, I know that’s weird.

Everything – Lifehouse
Emotional. Great build-up. I have a soft spot for Lifehouse.

Almost brings tears to my eyes every time. Definitely one of my favorite worship songs... Ever!

I have danced to this song dozens and dozens of times. It’s a great one!

Every time the song ends, I get sad. I will learn how to play it on the guitar someday!

Liar (It Takes Two) – Taking Back Sunday
They blend the perfect amount of guitar, screaming, and pop. Props to them.

Another song that I just can’t help but smile too. I thought I’d be sick of it by now due to my excessive listening, but I’m not!
Plus, I like to make the people riding with me dance to the shake it part. :)

If I produced a movie and got to help pick the soundtrack, these would be on it. Even if they didn’t make sense with the movie, I would throw them in just to evoke emotion.

Rough Start

So it is Friday. Friday's are supposed to be good days...I mean Jean Day at work should always be a good day.

But mine is off to a rough start...

I left my phone at home, but needed to call our Realtor this morning. So I decided to drive home to get it.
I jacked my shoulder on the door on my way out to the car. I mean I hit it really hard. It was enough to cause my shoulder to fly back and hard enough that I had to rub it on the way to my car.

I got home, grabbed my phone and headed back. I started talking to our Realtor and as soon as I hung up my phone was ready to die.
And I forgot my charger. So that wasn't that productive of a trip.

I then stopped at the gas station to get a diet coke to wake myself up. I took a sip of it before I got to the counter and realized it must need changed because it was all foam and no taste. So I dumped it out and had to get a Diet Pepsi. Yuck.

Then on my way back into work I hit my hand really hard on the closing door. One of my co-workers saw it and said...OUCH! I just shook my head and kept walking.

Oh and on my way into the gas station I got my flip flop stuck on the door. I had to stand right inside the door frame while another guy stepped over my sandal to enter the store. Three people in the parking lot saw me standing there hopping on one leg. When I went back out to get my flip flop I tried to do it quickly but put it between the wrong toes and had to hop again while I fixed it with my hand. I was not smooth at all.

So...how's your day going?

This Attacked Me Last Night...

I was walking through the grocery store when I heard a pop and then felt something hit my leg. I thought being shot would hurt more, so I knew that probably wasn't what happened. I looked down to see a gooey biscuit laying by my leg, another one a few inches away, and the canister still up on the shelf. It some how popped open on its own when I walked by and hit me in the leg! What the heck are the chances of that?

I of course looked around to see what other people thought of this crazy coincidence, and there wasn't a single soul by me! WHAT! Are you kidding me? Somebody had to have seen that! So instead of laughing with a complete stranger I had to settle with just taking a picture. I then continued with my shopping. Woops, maybe I should have told somebody so they could clean it up. My bad.

I sent Ben the picture and told him the story...he asked me if I wanted him to call Constantine. HA!

My conclusions...
Biscuits = Dangerous

Everybody and their Mom has probably already seen this video, but I just watched it the other day for the first time. I thought it was pretty entertaining. It is even more impressive to me because I'm not overly coordinated and I could see myself getting all jumbled up as the song got faster and faster.

It starts off kind of slow, but really picks up. Sorry that the girls are pretty much half naked, but it is in the name of art...which always makes it okay right? :)

If you like cutesy and you like simple you will probably love Kurt Halsey Frederiksen's art. He works mostly with pencil, pen, and paint mediums...and I'm a sucker for his work. I went ahead and found a few of my favorites to show. Don't let his style fool you though, this art is not meant for children and is not always of a positive manner. FYI.

Prego...Everybody's Doing It

So I guess there comes a time in every ones life when all of their friends get prego. I have 4 good friends who are expecting right now and even more who have already had children in the past year. This also isn't counting my 3 fairly new nephews. I feel like I need to jump on this bandwagon or that I'm going to miss out on all of the fun.

Then I realize that we stay up until like 3am on the weekends, that we aren't the most organized people, that we are never home, and that we probably couldn't even keep a goldfish alive right now. The biggest part is that we like how things are going...we selfishly like our freedom at this time in our lives.

Plus, I've already made a deal with my hubby that we can't have children until he stops bringing his Nintendo DS to weddings. I don't see that happening anytime soon. Sorry Mom, you are just going to have to wait.

I wish I had baby bump pictures of my friends to show here. I am going to take some of Christen here soon...but we are waiting for her to plump up a bit. :)

I love this one! It's today's version of the mixed tape and who didn't love making and receiving these little guys. You can find versions that hold anywhere from 20-1000 songs. The most popular ones hold about 20 and gives you room on the inside flap to write down the songs you chose. What a simple, yet awesome way to tell that loved one..."Hey Baby, nothing reminds me of you more than Sir-Mix-A-Lots Baby Got Back, Mariah Carey's Always Be My Baby, and Lonestar's Amazed!" I want it!

This one continues to inflate as you store more and more on it. I don't know how they do it, but I think it's pretty darn cool!

Me and my hubby are going to try to make this one ourselves.

I crack up every time I look at this one. The bears head is the cap for the drive. I think it's funny and deem it one of my favorites just because it's ridiculous.

Moleskine Art

I bought a Moleskine sketchbook a few months ago from Barnes and Noble. I was inspired after seeing what others had done with these small trendy books. I had to have one. So far I have used mine to keep a collection of inspiring designs and products, for a reference of key guitar chords, guitar music, ideas, etc. I will post some pictures soon.

A lot of theses examples use more of a pencil/pen medium. To be honest, I am jealous that I haven't been able to sharpen my drawing skills. That's on my to do list...right next to learning to paint. I think I will just keep drooling over their amazing sketches in the meantime.

We have fallen in love with this show. Great acting, beyond interesting story lines, tension, humor, blood, and mysteries. It doesn't get any better than that does it? If you haven't seen this show, I strongly suggest that you give it a whirl. I feel like this is one of those shows that has flown under the radar and needs to be recognized for it's wicked Awesomeness. Profound huh?

Now for my disclaimer. It airs on Showtime, which means that there is language, some nudity, etc. I just thought I should warn you.

Smoothies have been our thing lately. We've enjoyed one almost every night for the past 2 weeks. I just thought I'd share some of our favorite smoothie recipes that we've come up with so far.

Stranana
1 Cup of frozen or fresh Strawberries
1 medium sized Banana
1 scoop of Whey Protein
1 6oz container of Strawberry Banana Yogurt
1/4 to 1/3 cup of juice (we've been using strawberry orange banana)
Handful of ice (more if you are not using frozen strawberries)
Splash of milk

Berry Plurple
1/2 Cup of frozen or fresh Strawberries
1/2 Cup of frozen or fresh blueberries, raspberries, or both
1 medium sized Banana
1/4 to 1/3 cup of juice (grape would be a good kind to use here)
Handful of ice (more if you are not using frozen fruit)
Splash of milk
Berry Yogurt [optional]

Ole Dreamsicle
1 Orange [peeled]
1/2 Cup of Orange Juice
1 6oz. container of Orange Dreamsicle yogurt
2 Tablespoons of Splenda or 1 Tablespoon of Sugar
1 Scoop of Whey Protein
1-2 Handfuls of Ice

Peaches for Free
1 Cup Frozen or Fresh Peaches
1 6oz container of Peach Yogurt
1/4 cup Orange Juice or Peach Nectar
1 Handful of Ice

Small Update

Here's a quick update on what's been happening with The Sniders....

- Ben is job hunting. The job market is awful right now, but I'm sure that my very talented and marketable hubby will find something soon.

- High School small groups have begun at our church and Ben and I have the privilege of leading ones. I am excited to see how my group of girls mesh and to see how God works in their lives over the next few months. I know Ben feels the same.

- I just got back from a surprise date weekend with Ben. He sent me these cute little hints (one example below) on what we were doing and then drove to Bloomington where we rock climbed at Upper Limits. I've been wanting to go for quite awhile now and he managed to find a day that we were free to go do so. It was Amazing. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful and thoughtful husband! He never ceases to show me love in creative and unique ways! Check out a few photos from our rock climbing excursion on my photo blog.

- Miriam (our sister in law) is in labor right now!!! We are eagerly awaiting to hear if she has a boy or girl. My money is on a girl. I had a dream about it...so it must be true. This will be our second niece or nephew. We already are in love with our nephew Simon...so we welcome another little guy or girl to love on. I am excited to feed them lots of candy and ice cream when they get older! I am also guessing that if it's a girl the name will be Emily and if a boy the name will be Alexander.

- I am ticked at everybody for wishing my summer away. Multiple times this summer I recall telling people to stop wishing it away with their comments. Ben kept saying that he couldn't wait for football season (which pretty much starts in the fall) and back in May my friends kept saying how they wanted our Wisconsin trip to hurry and get here...and it did hurry and get here. Now don't get me wrong...I had a blast and I was also looking forward to it, BUT it wasn't until Labor Day weekend. So I blame you Ben, Christen, Brad, and Aaron for the summer flying by. Shame on you all!

Jordans' Birthday and Parents' Baptism

Yesterday was a pretty exciting day! It was my brother's 15th Birthday...which is crazy in itself. It doesn't feel like that long ago that I was babysitting him and he was sneaking out of his bedroom window during nap time. You were a sneaky one Jordan! It has been so exciting to see you grow up and I'm proud of the man you are becoming. I am scared that I am going to literally be looking up to you very soon. Now remember little brother...I can still deliver a charlie horse that can bring tears to your eyes even if you ever become taller/stronger than me. :) Happy Birthday Jordan!! And one last piece of advice...try not to break every girls' heart okay!

It was also a very exciting day because my parents were both baptized. My Mom decided to have my Uncle Stanley baptize her and Dad surprised Mom by letting her baptize him as well. It is such a huge blessing to have two God-fearing parents in my life. I love you both very much! Thank you for raising our family in His image!

Travel & Frog in the Blender

Three of our best friends had the opportunity to do some mission’s work over in Haiti. They have been there since last Monday and will be back home in a few days. I think it is such an amazing opportunity to experience and I’m very thankful that they were able to serve the Lord in this way. I would have loved to have gone with, but it just didn’t work out for me and Ben to do so. It just never seems to work out to do these types of trips.

I had a chance to go to the Dominican Republic in High School, but it fell through. I remember being really bummed and hoping that I’d have another chance. My freshman year of college I thought that it was finally going to happen for me. My softball team offered a chance to go to the Dominican over Interterm. It also fell through though.

The fall semester of my Junior Year I was all signed up and paid for to spend my semester in Africa. I was very excited to go, but felt God calling me to stay at Greenville. I was the captain of our softball team and the RC of my floor. I felt that I had a lot of opportunities right there in front of me. So I reluctantly backed out of the trip and stayed. I did end up dating my future husband that semester and I formed some great relationships with teammates, roommates, and dormmates. So I’m definitely not complaining…I just can’t figure out why these trips have never worked out for me.

Maybe someday…I know they will go to Haiti again in two years. Fingers crossed!!

We’ve had a fun week though. We did the following:

- Test drove bikes. Ours got stolen. Boo to that!! Bikes are darn expensive though…boo to that too!

-Had our first Shaved Ice of the summer. One of my favorite kinds is Frog in a Blender. It is Green Apple with a splash of cherry. Morbid name, but very tasty!

-Played some washers. (read previous story)

-Ben got his XBOX 360 back. It had the Red Ring of Death. I thought he was going to cry. He is happy that he has it back. He hugged it when he got it back. It was precious.

-Had the chance to chat it up with my friend Emily. She is quite the bike riding stud now.

-Had dinner with the Churchills. Talk about some great people…we love hanging out with them. They have the funniest stories.

-Worked on a video for our nephew Simon. Almost done…the party is tomorrow at noon. I better get moving on finishing that up. I hope they like it!

AFV Worthy

Tonight Ben and I were playing some washers in our backyard. (See photo of the day)

This is a very low key game. There should be no physical contact or injuries. It isn't lawn jarts for goodness sakes. Lawn Jarts could possibly be one of the greatest outdoor games ever created though. If anybody knows where I could get some we would be willing to play big money for them. (They are illegal now and are not sold anywhere!)

Anyways...so both of us walked away from our game of washers with an injury.

First I tried to stop one of Ben's wild throws with my foot. Instead it hit me square in the ankle and made quite the tink noise. I of course did a little hopping, that hurt, dance! It instantly puffed up and turned a dark shade of blue. Wow. I am talented.

Then about 10 minutes later I threw a wonderful toss that swirled around inside the cup and popped back out. It was almost a 3 point toss. Anyways, it ended up popping right up out of the cup and hitting Ben in the crotch. I some how managed to hit him in the crotch from 20 feet away with a washer! Now that's some skill. I of course bent over laughing almost to the point of tears. Ben was also almost in tears, but for a very different reason.

Then he beat me both games. I think God was rewarding him for taking a shot down there. Ben did successfully cover himself during each of my throws after that. I guess he just didn't want to take that chance again. Maybe he will wear a cup next time.

Baby Mama

I haven't blogged for over a month. That should tell you how stinkin funny I thought Baby Mama was. Go see it! Pick that friend who laughs when you laugh or that friend who still quotes Anchorman, Mean Girls, or your favorite Office episodes with you and go see it.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hysterical and the Lamaze coach has a lazy R. I'm not sure the technical name of it, but when she wants to say really she say weawwy and when she says lesbian lovers she is really saying wesbian wovers. I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard.

Plus it has Steve Martin who gives one of the best performances I've ever seen him do. It's filled with amazing quotes!

Oh and I watched the new Indiana Jones movie and was very disappointed. It was cheesy and played the theme song a whopping 9 times. Oh plus Shiloh LeBoeuf swings from some tree vines with a bunch of monkeys. WHAT?

ben's ninja turtle birthday party

So tonight we threw Benjamin a birthday party... a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Birthday party to be exact. It had cookie pizza dessert, eye bands, lots of green, and fellowship with friends and family. Ben was so excited for his party that I couldn't help but smile! His actual birthday is tomorrow and he will be turning the big 24, but tonight we celebrated like his was 10. It was fantastic!

He was spoiled rotten of course. He finally got an XBOX 360 that he has wanted so badly. Friends and family all pitched in with me to purchase him one. I really did think that he was going to wet himself when he opened it. Here are a few pictures from his birthday party.

Stranger than Fiction

I just watched Stranger than Fiction last night. It was excellent and that came as a bit of a surprise to me. I had seen previews for it before it came out and the concept of the movie didn’t interest me in the slightest. After it was recommended to me a few times and just recently by a co-worker, I thought I would give it a try.

It was very well done and I loved Will Ferrell and Maggie Gyllenhaal in it. Maggie is becoming one of my new favorite actresses. She doesn’t always play roles where I love her character, but she’s a fantastic actress!

There was so much witty dialogue and narration in this film that it made me wish I was a better writer. The soundtrack was also amazing. I downloaded Whole Wide World by Wreckless Eric and have already listened to it like 8 times today. It’s a very catchy song!

If you haven’t seen the movie, I strongly suggest you give it try. It’s not for everybody though. My mom said, “Yah I saw it, it was weird!” She’s more of a Wild Hogs/It’s a Wonderful Life movie watcher.

Shake It Like a Salt Shaker

I finally have a chance to write about the earthquake from last Friday. Unfortunately we slept right through it. I don’t’ know if it’s because we already toss and turn all night anyway or if it’s because of our abnormally loud fan that we didn’t notice. I did feel the aftershock that happened later that day…so I was happy that I at least got to feel something. My co-worker crawled under her desk after it happened! It was very entertaining!

I did happen to come across some great stories that others shared regarding the Earthquake at 4:30 am. Here are a few of my favorites including comments from the local online paper…

1. That's the first time MY headboard has banged in years :) (Thanks for sharing lady!)

2. Thats God warning the pedophiles they better repent because He is serious about his Children and their will be a judgement day (WHAT?)

3. Make me glad I drive a big Ford F-250 and vote Republican!

4. I don't so much mind the shaking, it's the strong winds after the quake that bother me. I opened the windows to reduce the air pressure, but the dang wind blew down my beer can collection.

5. The quake actually woke my man whom I claim could sleep through a hurricane...guess not :-) Now I'm wondering why he doesn't ever get up for the baby?

6. Here I am.....ROCK you like a hurricane! I think the Scorps made a comeback at 4:37am.
